In summer, the meadows in the Western Cascades are full of butterflies and wildflowers. This lycaenid butterfly landed long enough for a quick picture.
On this penultimate day of a long backpacking trip, the mosquitoes were so thick my friends said I looked like Pigpen from the Peanuts. Thankfully they (the mosquitoes, not my friends) went to sleep by sunset.
